In my recent work “Ozymandias” I went to Inner Mongolia, where I explored the ghost town of Ordos Kangbashi. I span the arc from a collapsing coal industry into the surreal world of a megalomaniac test-tube city, which is only ten percent inhabited. During the Corona Lockdowns I created “Ozymandias - The Movie” an animation-film with a live music setting for Oboe and Live-Electronics.
Or look at the Three Gorges Dam covered in an eerie fog-landscape as in “downstream the greyscale” and explore urban gardening inside the megacity of Chongqing in “Heterotopia”. In “Chongqing Gone” I discovered the old and dying part of this unknown metropolis, as I show the building boom on the same spot in “ Urbanize!”.
Discover the luxury world of Hongkong and step down to the dark alleys of Mongkok in “From Stars to Darkness”. “Migong” takes a closer look at the backalleys of hongkongs secret and private streets in Mongkok and is full of strange “still lifes” of random objects.
On the other side of the border near Guangzhou I spent one day at a shipyard and followed its workforce at “Cosco Shipyard”, moreover you can find the sad, dirty and gritty leftovers of a destroyed urban village in the city center of Canton if you follow to “Dekonstruktion auf Chinesisch”. Finally I investigated luxury malls and hotel lobbies in Shanghai @ “Shopping Shanghai” whereas “Echotown” strolls around the most famous copytown of Austrias Hallstatt in China.
