ECHOTOWN - HALLSTATT IN CHINA

Echotown - Hallstatt in China

"Hall" = German for "Echo". The Title "Echotown" is a metaphor for a "Global Echo" this specific town is triggering and a direct Translation of "Hall" from German to English.
Since China erected British-Town near Chengdu, German-Town and Thames-Town near Shanghai, a 108-meter high Eiffel Tower rises above Champs Elysées Square in Hangzhou, Hallstatt See is another effort to bring European Life Style to the Chinese upper-class and a perfect example of China´s most popular and architectural movement: the construction of monumental themed communities that replicate towns and cities in the West. These copycat constructions are not theme parks but communities where Chinese start to live, raise children and enjoy weekends.
Hallstatt-See is a real estate project by China Minmetals Corporation. Set in an all over industrial landscape inside China´s most developed Guangdong Area between Huizhou and Guangzhou, the contrast this artificial village provokes cannot be bigger. Even more if you know the picturesque mountain and lakeside setting of the original Hallstatt-Village in Austria
