A forest in Carinthia devastated by storm damage.

In February 2023, a storm destroyed 50,000 solid cubic meters of wood next to my home town Spittal/Drau (Carinthia) in just one hour.

Due to the spruce monoculture and the increasing number of extreme weather events triggered by climate change, forest management faces enormous challenges.

Strategies are currently being developed to maintain a sustainable forest for future generations with mixed forest cultures
